No oil on new baseball gloves? Why and what should we do?
We have had a bunch of inquires from people asking about Coach Scott’s reasons for not using oil on new baseball gloves. Below is a recap of his comments made earlier this year.
Coach Scott: The reason I do not like oil to break in baseball gloves is simple. In my opinion oil takes life out of the glove. Most baseball gloves come preconditioned, now it is up to the user of the glove to break it in the old fashion way, by using it. Oil can make the leather to soft which allows the leather to stretch more than it should. This can lead to ripping of the leather. Oil also, adds weight to the glove and can make it heavy. To make a baseball glove last a long time, make sure the laces stay tight. Do not throw the glove in your bat bag when you are done using it. It will only get smashed and bent out of shape. Carry the baseball glove in your hand. When you get home put it up for safe keeping by placing the palm of the glove down (Do not leave your glove in the trunk of a car). As a baseball mitt starts to age they seem to dry out. Now is the time for oil. Use a very light amount. If you you think you have the perfect amount you most likely have to much. Use very thin layers. P.S. when buying a glove, the stiffer the leather, the better the leather.
So what Coach Scott is saying is to use your baseball glove to properly break-it in. As the glove ages and dry’s, then use oil and use it very sparingly. I’ve seen coaches catchers mitt and it is almost 20 years old. They are as good as new.

Here is the update on our product review of the Pinnacle Studio and JVC Everio GGZMG255 Digital Video in a live situation. Overall, I think the final result shows what you can do with this product. I only just have begun to understand this video making process, and it is a lot of fun.
The
concert we taped was in a very large student center. I had to place the JVC Everio digital video camera approximately 75-80 feet away from the stage. The room was very dimly lite with florescent lights. The digital video camera performed remarkable well. The picture was clear enough when viewed on a 46″ flat screen TV ( See Sony Bravia product review ).
Capturing the performance from the JVC Everio with the Pinnacle Studio Version 12
was a breeze. I used the DV connection available on the JVC Everio docking station to the computer. Windows XP PNP picked up the digital video camera without any problems. Pinnacle also had no problems finding the video camera as well. Once I captured the video to the computer, it was very simple to drag and drop the clips and transitions during the editing process. Once I had that complete, it was time to burn a DVD and MPEG-4. This all happened seamlessly with the settings available within the Pinnacle Studio 11.0 Ultimate software.
I can see where this can become addicting. I love being able to create my own movies. I know, they look very corny now, but I will get better. You will see. Also, I’m thinking of investing into a shotgun microphone for those long distance audio recordings.

Easton V12 Baseball Bat Review on GoodGuysReview.com. Nice bat for all ages.

Coach Scott says: Easton V12 Baseball Bats…Increases Bat Speed!
Easton V12 Alloy Baseball Bats feature:

What I like about the V12 is the streamlined barrel profile, which maximizes swing weight proficiency. This streamlined design helps to optimize the use of the wall thickness throughout the baseball bats profile, taper contour, and handle. The flex-rated 100 handle does provide decent stiffness which helps you control and balance the baseball bat. The VRS (Vibration Reduction System) rating of 80 for this baseball bat gives the Easton V12 a good feel on contact. What is really cool, Easton provides an exclusive 400 day warranty on this model.

Cecchi Chianti Classico 2006 is a great red wine for those hearty meat entrees. This is a full body wine that does round out in the finish. The nose will smell slight pepper, dark cherry’s and a hint of violet.

We just came back from the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT. We had the pleasure of tasting of this and three other Cecchi (pronounced as Check Key) wines. This Chianti Classico is from the heartland of the Tuscany region of Italy.
This wine is delightful and finishishes very nicely on the palette. Click on the label and order yourself a bottle from Wine.com.

FireFox addon, ScribeFire, is an easy blog editor to author posts for my WordPress blogs. I’ve found this cool little blog editor on FireFox’s Addon’s and decided to test it out.
Why should I be looking for a tool like this? I’m tired of doing all the typing and formating of other peoples content in the blogs I manage. The copywriters I have are really have problems with WordPress’s editor. Yes, even when I’ve installed all the WYSIWYG tools. I have been using Windows Live Writer, but it doesn’t help for people who have Mac’s. So, when I found ScribeFire as a FireFox addon, I was overjoyed.
There are two components of ScribeFire. The first is the blog editor I’m speaking about and there is an opportunity to generate revenue from ScribeFire QuickAds. I’m just beginning to get involved with that and will provide my review on that later.
Back to ScribeFire. You can use this cool little blog editor to author content in either a post or a page and publish it to the site. The installation is easy and straightforward. You can setup the tool enable publishing to multiple blogs, nice. The tool can do the following:
- Add YouTube videos to your posts and blogs.
- Upload pictures.
- Save posts as drafts
- Categorize and tag posts
- Deliver your posts to your faviorate social web sites.
The coolest part, the support for many different blog platforms and services. Take a look at this list for blogging services ScribeFire supports:
Look at the number of blogging platforms:
Check it out and let us know your thoughts as well. It has worked really well with the copywriters I support. They love the simplicity and functionality it provides to author posts for our blogs.

Good Guys Product Review found a great new tool to use with WordPress, Press This. This is really neat tool to include material from another site into your blog or web site. There is one concern. Copying content from the Internet into your web site is an infringement of copyright laws and a big no no with search engines for duplicate content. You should only use this tool to copy content with the proper citiation of the source.
Take a look and let us know what you think.
Directions on how to use Press This
- In the lower right hand side of the Write or Manage section of the WordPress Admin, right click and save the Press This bookmarklet to your bookmarks.
- Begin to surf the web.
- Click the Press This bookmark any time you find something you want to cite in your blog. You can also highlight text first if that’s what you want to cite.
- Select and arrange text, images, video, or quotes within the Press This window. Add your thoughts and edit at will.
- Publish (or save) directly from the window when you’re done.
