It's a very good camera overall.
Picture quality is very good, but not as good as the Canon SD550.
Zooming is excellent.
The video quality is excellent in HD mode; however, it's very big in size (433MB for a 2'30" HD video).
The focus can't be changed during videotaping.
It's a little bit too big for carrying in the pocket.

I have come to firmly believe that Canon's point-and-shoot quality and clarity is simply unbeatable in the industry for many years now. I have owned SONY, Olympus, Fuji in the past. Tested several Panasonic and other cameras. Nothing even comes close to Canon's quality of outputs.

Some people here compared this to Panasonic DMC-ZS3. HELLO ??? This new camera is 12.1MP while the DMC-ZS3 is 10MP only. You may ask whether extra 2.1MP makes a big difference? Well for 350+ bucks and for my kid's close-ups and editable portraits, HELL YEAH!

This is an awesome compact camera with great beginner to professional features. It would take me many months before I realize its true potential but its intuitive manual and on-screen interfaces guide me whenever I need to play with advanced settings.

If you are on tight budget and want to buy just one camera for your family, this is it.

Of course, this camera has its flaws like bad placement of flip-up flash, slightly bulkier, but Canon's quality outputs more than make up for such flaws.

We liked the zoom, but were pretty unimpressed with the picture quality. We are trying to upgrade from a 3.1 megapixel Kodak and honestly, we really couldn't see much better picture clarity with the canon. You'd think that jumping up 4X in MP we'd see a remarkable difference. We didn't.
We liked the camera, software is easy to install and use, and the zoom was nice, but too much money for the quality of pics. We are returning the camera and going to try the Sony Cypershot.
